Games Monitor is a network of people raising awareness about issues within the London Olympic development processes.
We want to highlight the local, London and international implications of the Olympic industry. We seek to deconstruct the ‘fantastic’ hype of Olympic boosterism and the eager complicity of the ‘urban elites’ in politics, business, the media, sport, academia and local institutional ‘community stakeholders’.

Staff in Bath & North East Somerset Council are participating in a ground breaking, in-house energy efficiency project.
The project aims to reduce the amount of energy that is used in our offices, thereby reducing our carbon emissions, a key factor in fighting climate change. Energy Champions, who have come forward from all over the council, are working with staff to raise awareness of energy efficiency in the workplace.
Staff are encouraged to do simple things, such as turn off lights when they are not being used, print documents double sided, and to turn off monitors and shut down computers when leaving their desks to go to meetings or leaving the office. The cumulative efforts of these small actions add up to definite savings in electricity use. Consumption monitors have been installed to the electricity supplies in our offices so that it is possible to see where and when energy is being used.
